Graphene technology producer enters waterproof breathable membrane market

Producer of graphene nanoplatelet-based products Directa Plus has developed a new membrane containing its technology.

The membrane’s construction is based on a polyurethane film containing the Directa Plus’s G+ graphene nanoplatelets; it worked with a specialist membrane technology partner, Novaresin. It will market the new product under the names Grafytherm and Grafyshield to companies seeking breathable water-protection for outdoor clothing.

In addition to these properties, the Italian technology provider says its use of graphene also provides thermal and electrical conductivity, infrared absorption and anti-bacterial functionality. The new polyurethane film has a patent in Italy and Directa Plus is in the process of extending this internationally.
