Govt to support textiles industry meet environmental standards

The government of India, under the 12th five year plan has earmarked sum of Rs500 crore for the textile industry to meet the required environmental standards by adopting modern technology, Lok Sabha was informed today.

The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India will be implementing an Integrated Processing Development Scheme (IPDS) in public private partnership (PPP) mode by Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which will be a corporate body registered under the Companies Act, Textiles minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said responding to questions in the House.

Under the scheme the funding pattern sees sharing of funds between Government of India, state governments and SPV in the ratio of 50:25:25 respectively.

The government of India will provide support limit to 50 percent of the project cost with a ceiling of Rs 75 crore for projects with Zero Liquid Discharge and Rs 10 crore for projects with conventional treatment systems.
