The Movement, a dutch fibre solution company has struck a deal with the textile recycler Giotex, to insert its Aware tracer particles in the Giotex’s recycled cotton-blend yarn.

This states The Movement’s Aware integrity solution is now accessible in North and South America through Giotex. Giotex claims to be the largest spinner of recycled cotton and polyester pre-dyed fibres and blends in America.

This agreement opens doors to other brands and retailers in the United States who manufacture locally to access 100% traceable recycled cotton yarn.

Steven Usdan, the co-founder of Giotex, stated that nothing was more important to manufacturing than sustainable practices and radical transparency. He added that Aware has joined advanced tagging technology to blockchain transparency.

Feico van der Veen, the founder of The Movement, stated that they were extremely happy with the collaboration and believe that genuine traceable recycled cotton yarn should be available from all important production areas around the globe, to avoid unnecessary shipments of materials.

The Movement is responsible for the development of Aware as it saw a needed reliable system to verify the authenticity of recycled materials through tracers and blockchain technology. This has been developed to avoid greenwashing.

Giotex procures material from post-industrial and post-consumer textiles and spins a full range of dyed cotton blends for various mills and brands. It claims to be the first company to achieve Global Recycling Standard certification for yarn in North America
