Gap Inc. and Ambercycle have announced a partnership to integrate textile-to-textile recycled materials into Athleta products. Ambercycle's Cycora® regenerated polyester, a high-performance material derived from end-of-life textiles, will replace conventional polyester in Athleta's offerings. Beginning in 2026, Athleta, a Certified B Corporation, aims to become the first performance apparel brand to adopt cycora on a large scale.
Chris Blakeslee, CEO of Athleta, emphasized the brand's commitment to sustainability and quality, stating that the adoption of Cycora aligns with Athleta's mission and values. Athleta's versatile apparel range, designed by women for women, prioritizes inclusivity and integrates performance and technical features across various lifestyle activities.
Shay Sethi, CEO of Ambercycle, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Athleta, highlighting the shared goal of driving the circular fashion movement. Together, they aim to create high-quality garments while promoting sustainability in the performance sector.
Dan Fibiger, head of Global Sustainability at Gap Inc., reiterated the company's commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation in product development. Ambercycle's molecular regeneration technology enables the transformation of end-of-life textiles into Cycora, a material that mirrors the quality of virgin-grade polyester while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and textile waste.
