Gandhi Shilp Bazaar, a handicrafts fair a platform provided to the artisans across the country to sell their products directly to the consumers without interference of any middlemen, organized every year by the Centre's development commissioner (handicraft), ministry of textile will be hosted by Jharcraft in Ranchi from April 28 to May 7.

There will be 100 stalls in the fair in which around 200 artisans from across the country are likely to showcase their products. B Jenna, assistant director at office of development commissioner (handicraft) said that they are giving the artisans stalls free of cost, second class train fair, freight charges upto Rs500 and travelling allowance up to Rs1,500. The artisans get to keep the entire profit.

This is the first time that the handicraft fair is being organized independently. Earlier they had given the responsibility to Khadi Gramodyog Board to organize this fair and it was organized thrice under the name of Khadi, Saras and Hastashilp Mela but this is the first time that the handicraft fair is being organized independently by Jharcraft, Jenna said.

They have requested the art and culture department to arrange for cultural events in the fair for entertainment of visitors.

Apart from the 100 stalls, Jharcraft will be putting up it's own stalls showcasing various cane and dokra products. Managing Director of Jharcraft, AK Singh said that they will be giving discounts on our Jharcaft products.

Apart from Jharkhand, artisans from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have consented to participate in the fair, while reply from other states is awaited.

Keeping in view the high temperature, the fair timing are kept from 10 am to 9:30 pm for convenience of people. Also, the entry to the fair would be free.
