Dutch brand G-Star Raw has joined forces with China's oldest denim mill, Advance Denim, to utilize fabric dyed with Archroma's Denisol Pure Indigo 30. Introduced in 2018, Denisol Pure Indigo 30 is a 30% pre-reduced indigo solution that enables the production of indigo-dyed denim without aniline impurities. Archroma reports that a significant portion of aniline waste currently ends up in wastewater discharge, posing risks to water ecosystems and aquatic life.

Advance Denim became the first mill in China to introduce an aniline-free collection in collaboration with Archroma. Their collection offers various authentic indigo shades with sustainable fiber compositions and multiple constructions. Additionally, Advance's new plant in Vietnam operates as a 100% aniline-free indigo factory.

Denisol Pure Indigo 30 simplifies usage with automated dosing, significantly reducing water consumption and hazardous chemical usage compared to indigo grains. It ensures high reproducibility and achieves deep indigo shades associated with denim.

Umberto De Vita, market segment director for denim at Archroma Textile Effects, highlighted that aniline-free denim can enhance recycling efficiency and contribute to circularity.

Rebecka Sancho, G-Star Raw's head of sustainability, emphasized their commitment to sustainability by leveraging clean chemistry and designing for durability and reuse. Johan Van den Heede, Advance Denim's Europe marketing director, expressed pride in pioneering cleaner denim production methods, underscoring their dedication to sustainability and innovation.
