Freudenberg unveils House of Sustainability initiative

Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel (Freudenberg) has announced the launch of its House of Sustainability initiative.

The initiative is designed to assist customers around the world improve the sustainability of their goods, setting the foundation for a more sustainable future with Freudenberg. Customers will find over 500 high-quality, sustainable and innovative solutions for a wide range of applications in the apparel sector.

Freudenberg is making its entire portfolio of sustainable solutions visible and transparent through this campaign. Simultaneously, the world’s largest manufacturer of technical textiles is advancing its roadmap of forward-thinking innovations.

Since Freudenberg’s establishment, sustainability has been an integral part of the company’s operations, and the company strives to reduce the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes (footprint) while assisting customers in achieving their sustainability goals by providing appropriate products and services (handprint).

John McNabb, Freudenberg Performance Materials CTO, said that they launch sustainable programs at the global and regional levels and are continually creating internationally available sustainable solutions. A number of examples attest to their forward-thinking initiatives. To name a few highlights, they were among the first to recycle PET bottles, having opened their first recycling plant in 1991. In 1995, they created the first biodegradable nonwoven interlinings. They now recycle over 2.5 billion post-consumer PER bottles each year.

Jonathan Oh, senior vice president, and general manager of Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel, said that a growing number of apparel firms and suppliers are actively promoting change and transparency in sustainability around the world. As a global leader in apparel interlinings, tapes, canvas, and prefabricated materials, linings, and comfortemp thermal insulations, it is critical for them to maintain their position as a global leader.

The foundation for the Freudenberg House of Sustainability is made up of four elements which include Certifications & Regulations, Raw Materials, Technology, and Carbon Footprint. This foundation is built on seven pillars that provide consumers with over 500 long-term solutions.

Customers can use the House of Sustainability to find the right solutions for their sustainable applications and achieve their sustainability goals quickly. Furthermore, all Freudenberg services are transparent and visible.

The 7 pillars of Freudenberg’s House of Sustainability include Recycled general interlinings, Recyclable interlinings, Energy-saving interlinings, Biodegradable interlinings & thermal insulations, Sustainable cotton interlinings, Nature-based interlinings, and Recycled thermal insulations & linings.

Over the course of a 12-week period, the House of Sustainability will be launched around the world. Freudenberg will publish in-depth information about the elements and pillars via multiple media each week. At ISPO Munich 2022, the entire House of Sustainability will be on display.
