Footwear brand, Josef Seibel’s production plant in Hauenstein, Germany, is converting to 100% green electricity as part of the multinational footwear manufacturer’s realignment. The conventional corporation is realigning itself in a more sustainable manner, integrating low-pollutant and low-emission trading into a long-term corporate strategy.
Environmentally-friendly production techniques and the use of sustainable materials such as chrome-free and dry-tanned leather, as well as the use of vegetable dyes, are all part of the company’s sustainability strategy. According to Josef Seibel, the Hauenstein production location also decreases CO2 emissions during transportation.
For the delivery of ecologically friendly electricity, Stadtwerke Karlsruhe was chosen as a partner. From June 2021 to June 2022, the firm will avoid 310 tonnes of CO2 by using 880.333 kWh of certified green power, according to ‘GoO Green Electricity,’ making a significant contribution to climate preservation. The quantity of energy determined is based on usage figures for 2020.
Since 2018, the Josef Seibel Group has been a member of Cads-Shoes e.V., a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring high standards in the manufacturing and sale of environmentally friendly, pollutant-free, and socially responsible shoes, shoe materials, and leather items.
