In its first move, the newly formed government with Santosh Gangwar as minister for textiles, has brought Readymade Garment (RMG) industry under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute for smooth management and effective coordination, an official told news agencies.

"The decision to this effect was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on 5 May," the official told agencies.

Hitherto, garments manufacturers were not under the minister of textiles and were approaching ministry of commerce and at times ministries of industries r ministry of labour whenever they ran into problem as they don't know which particular ministry was responsible for addressing the sector's issues.
