Finnish start-up Spinnova wins 2021 ANDAM Innovation Award

Finnish sustainable material company, Spinnova, was declared the winner of the ANDAM Innovation Award for 2021 for creating 100% sustainable textile fiber directly from FSC-certified wood and waste streams, without the need for dissolving or other hazardous chemical processes.

Being the winners, Spinnova will receive 50,000 euros as well as a year of mentoring from Yann Gozlan, the creator and president of Creative Valley.

The award was established in 2017 to recognize and reward technical advancements that help to revolutionize and revolutionize the fashion industry. It is available to any entrepreneur or start-up, whether French or foreign, who wants to expand their business in France.

The projects must provide new and technology solutions in fashion design, production, and distribution in order to assist in the development of a responsible and transparent fashion sector that takes economic, environmental, and social challenges into consideration.

The judging panel was pleased by Spinnova’s ability to transform how textiles are created sustainably with technologies that can produce cost-effective and ecologically friendly cellulose-based materials.

Chief commercial officer of Spinnova, Lotta Kopra, said Spinnova transforms the way textiles are created globally. Their innovative mechanical technique, which uses no toxic chemicals, allows them to produce textile fibers with a low environmental effect. They are ecstatic to be the recipients of the ANDAM Innovation Award. This is a fantastic chance for them to present their environmentally friendly solution to the fashion industry in France and beyond.

Founder and president of Creative Valley, Yann Gozlan, said the hygienic crisis and its severity have had a negative impact on the fashion sector in 2021; although some players were forced to close their doors, others were able to adapt and rethink their businesses. They applaud their efforts to preserve jobs and know-how while also contributing to the French industry’s international expansion.
