British sustainable outdoor brand, Finisterre, is proud to launch its first fully-circular jacket for consumer purchase, nearly a year after winning a 2021 Gold ISPO Outstanding Award in the Insulation Apparel Category for its Biosmock.

The Biosmock is designed as a practical insulated outerwear garment that can be layered beneath a waterproof jacket or worn alone as an outer shell, offering warmth and comfort in all situations. The entire jacket is meant to break down safely at the end of its long and useful life, with a PrimaLoft® BIO compostable shell, renewable and traceable HD® Wool Apparel Insulation, and biodegradable fasteners.

A. Todd, Lead Designer at Finisterre, said that they worked closely with the team at HD® Wool to obtain and incorporate HD® Wool Apparel Insulation into the Biosmock design. Wool's intrinsic heat retention and breathability make it an excellent insulator and renewable. Furthermore, purchasers can trace the jacket's insulation back to the four particular farms in the South West of England that supplied the wool, offering full traceability and accreditation from farm to Finisterre.

The HD® Wool Apparel Insulation QR code on the Biosmock hangtag will direct customers to the farm that supplied the garment's wool. Natasha Harris, a fourth-generation farmer situated in South Devon, which is just across the Tamar from Finisterre's location in Cornwall, manages one of the farms providing the wool.
