Fashionkind launches its first retail location

Ethical e-tailer Fashionkind, opens its first physical retail location in Mexico.

The luxury store, which is roughly 10 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, will include a variety of locally made crafts and fashion designs, including, for the first time men’s and kids’ clothing. Despite having a blog with the same name that was published years earlier, Nina Farran and Sophia Bush officially co-founded the ethical shop in 2019.

Customers can explore products by category (clothing, jewelry, etc.) or choose to shop by impact, in what Fashionkind has classified as value — including artisan craft, women’s empowerment, and zero waste — or area, paying tribute to more ethical buying. Every product in the store also has a QR code that shares information and the underlying sustainability certifications in accordance with Fashionkind’s “Kind Code” vetting standards.

Farran said that they wanted to emulate the sensation of discovery they have when they meet designers whose products can’t be found anywhere else. And they wanted to make Fashionkind a destination for anybody traveling through the area, which required adding two new categories: men’s and children’s.

17 emerging Latin American designers are featured in Fashionkind’s debut collection.

Sophia Bush, a co-founder, added that some of these are from their existing Fashionkind family, such as Francesca Miranda, Magnetic Midnight, and Verdi. These include Denisse Kuri, Jonne Amaya, and Yakampot, who are new members of the Fashionkind family with whom we have collaborated here in Mexico. And some are brand-new designers from other LatAm nations that they have added to the Fashionkind family, such Eugenia Fernandez and Susana Vega.

The clothing racks to the chandeliers in the 744-square-foot stand-alone store at the Auberge-owned opulent Susurros Del Corazón in Punta De Mita, Mexico, are all handcrafted in Mexico.
