Earlier this month the nominees for the Best Emerging Menswear Designer award were announced, which will also be announced at the December ceremony. On the decision to celebrate Mert and Marcus’ illustrious career, Caroline Rush, BFC Chief Executive said that, “We are thrilled to present the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator to Mert and Marcus and acknowledge them for their remarkable contribution to the global fashion industry.
Mert and Marcus have a unique way of portraying glamour, youth and fantasy, making them one of the forces of our industry. We look forward to celebrating with them, their clients and friends in London in December.â€
And it’s no surprise really as over the past 25 years the duo have shot some of the most famous portraits and fashion campaigns, having worked with the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian, as well as help shape the visions of brands such as Gucci and Calvin Klein.
The pair will be in good company as well, joining previous recipients of the award such as British Vogue Editor Edward Enninful and the late Louise Wilson.
In December 10th, London’s Albert Hall will play host to the Fashion Awards once again. With less than a month to go, photographic legends Mert Alas and Markus Piggot have just been announced as the recipients of the Isabella Blow award for Fashion Creator(s).
