Farfetch, a luxury fashion platform based in the UK, announced that it is partnering with ThredUp to bring its donation program to the United States. The program will allow Farfetch customers to extend the life of their clothes while earning shopping credit and raising money for charity.
Farfetch Donate US will be powered by ThredUp’s Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform. Farfetch is ThredUp’s first white-label RaaS partner, providing a completely customized resale experience tailored to the Farfetch brand and audience.
When an item sells on ThredUp, the seller donates at least 50% of the total payout to a charity of their choosing and receives the remainder as Farfetch shopping credit.
Director of sustainable business at Farfetch, Thomas Berry, said that they’re delighted to collaborate with ThredUp to give U.S. consumers a simple and sustainable option to refresh their wardrobes.
Berry added that Farfetch Donate is a cutting-edge service that transforms the conventional donation experience by making it simple and enjoyable for customers, while also having a beneficial effect by extending the life of high-quality items and helping various organizations. ThredUp is assisting them in doing this in a smooth and scalable manner.
The launch comes on the heels of Farfetch Donate’s successful debut in the UK in 2019 and aligns with the retailer’s newly stated 2030 sustainable goals.

Farfetch’s ‘Positively’ campaign, which ran throughout June in honor of World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June), intended to promote sustainability throughout the month.
