Zara, the global fashion brand and part of Inditex group, has announced the launch of a new capsule collection made using textile recycler Evrnu’s NuCycl lyocell. The Zara x Evrnu collection, which consists of two oversized collared shirts and wide-leg pants, is now available online at Zara.com and in several Zara shops across the world.
The goal of Evrnu is to develop novel, high-performance materials by using textile waste as a material resource. With its first innovation, NuCycl, 100% cotton textile waste is engineered into a revolutionary material called NuCycl Lyocell which is intended to replace and outperform cotton, man-made cellulosic fibers, nylon, and polyester while maintaining recyclability.
Evrnu provides brands with a solution to reduce their usage of virgin materials and, eventually their environmental impact associated with the manufacturing and waste of raw materials by providing circular fibers.
In order to keep up with the rising demand for NuCycl Lyocell, Evrnu is now expanding its operations and facilities. It will also continue to market its products through its collaboration with Zara and a number of other fashion companies.
Stacy Flynn, CEO & Co-Founder of Evrnu, said that they are excited to engage with powerful, well-known companies like Zara to market and scale NuCycl materials. The goal of Evrnu is to assist manufacturers in producing garments from recycled materials that may be recycled indefinitely. They are encouraged by the rising demand for novel, high-performance, circular materials from both brands and customers.
The Inditex Sustainability Innovation Hub, an open innovation platform created to bring start-ups together to promote and scale initiatives developing new materials, technologies, and processes that reduce the environmental impact of fashion and move production toward more sustainable practices, includes the Zara x Evrnu collaboration.
