MoU has been signed on Education Experience Programme between Bannari Amman Institute of Technology and New Zealand Institute of Fashion Technology Limited, to share the resources in fashion designs and marketing of the products.

Bannari Amman of Institute of Technology entered into an MoU for collaborative teaching-learning with the New Zealand Institute of Fashion Technology (NZ Fashion Tech), an accredited institution by the NZ Qualification Authority (NZQA) facilitated by the Brooker Foundation, Auckland. 15 students, the winners of New Zealand Fashion Week, sponsored by the Government of New Zealand would visit Bannari Amman Institute of Technology during Nov-Dec 2014 and stay for 5 weeks to understand the teaching methodology, practical learning through the facilities available in the laboratories, intricacies involved in the mass production of textiles and garments, accessories and our value systems.

As New Zealand has not enough textile industries to utilize its existing vibrant fashion designing sector, it would be a challenge for the students to study about hand-woven silks and recreate high fashion garments in a western context, Kevin Smith, Managaing Director, NZFT, said.

The 15 Students from New Zealand will visit Doddampalayam in Erode district to learn the aspects of weaving of silk saris and undergo training at BIT in production of textile, garments and accessories, S V Balasubramaniam, Chairman, BIT, said in a release here today.

BIT has also given proposal to send Indian students to New Zealand to study about the recent trends in fashion designs.
