During the coronavirus pandemic, the fashion industry’s efforts to become more sustainable were in danger of derailment. But despite being affected by the challenges of the pandemic, the fashion brands and retailers increasingly recognize the importance of sustainability as a business imperative and continue to invest in cleaning up the supply chains and introducing new models of working.

Since 1887, Drapers trade magazine has been the UK fashion industry’s “bible”. The awards were launched in 2020 and can be participated by the retailers, suppliers as well as fashion brands that operate in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

This award recognizes the steps which are taken in order to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry hence creating fairer working conditions across the supply chain.

The winners have been announced for the Drapers Sustainable Fashion 2021, which took place virtually on 10 March 2021.

Allbirds won the Best Carbon Footprint Initiative, Chambray & Co won the Best Circularity Initiative, Sheep Inc won the Best Supply Chain Initiative, FibreTrace won the Best Use of Technology for Good, Joao Maraschin, London College of Fashion won the Graduate Award, and Superdry won the Positive Change Award which was sponsored by Isko.

Apart from these, Raeburn won the Brand of the Year which was sponsored by Bleckmann, Hirestreet won the Recommerce, Sustainable Textile Innovation was won by PrimaLoft and PrimaLoft® Bio™. Mostafiz Uddin, Managing Director of Denim Expert and founder & CEO of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange was recognized as the Sustainable Fashion Champion.
