Asos is collaborating with DPD on an initiative through which the customers may arrange for charity donations to be collected from their doorstep with their Asos order.
DPD's ReLove project, a circular economy campaign, will see the delivery firm gather pre-loved apparel and distribute it to one of five leading UK charities for free.
Asos consumers who are awaiting a DPD order will be able to donate clothes to Scope, the British Red Cross, Marie Curie, the British Heart Foundation, or The Children's Society using the YourDPD software.
The pre-loved consignment would then be collected by DPD at the same time as the Asos distribution. Customers will be encouraged to re-use DPD or Asos packaging and may either hand it over to their DPD driver or leave it in their "safe place" for collection.
DPD’s head of CSR, Olly Craughan said DPD is a leader in the distribution room when it comes to sustainability, and he is proud of the team for supporting projects like this. They're going to invest in their fleet's decarbonization, but the problem is bigger than just buying electric cars. They want to go a long way. It's about encouraging themselves to look at every part of their business to find a greener and more efficient way of doing stuff.
He added that ReLove is another way for people to contribute to lowering carbon levels, reducing pollution, and raising funds for charity all at the same time. It's also fantastic to collaborate with Asos on yet another innovative approach for their customers. They already distribute to these emails, so there will be one less ride and fewer miles traveled in total. The DPD app currently has over 9 million users and has proven to be a valuable resource for us. It plays a critical role in assisting them in providing excellent support to the clients, as well as pushing creativity such as this.
Chief strategy officer at Asos, Patrik Silén said that their goal has always been to have an exceptional shopping experience for their consumers, and one of the ways they do that is by giving them more chances to shop responsibly with them.
He added that they know that their consumers donate their gently used clothes often and see it as a wonderful way to keep garments out of landfills, so working with DPD on the ReLove campaign is a perfect match for it. They're excited to be working with the team to develop sustainable options, and they're looking forward to hearing from their customers in the coming weeks.
