Dowsil IE-8749 Emulsion has been introduced by the material science company Dow for silicone-based fabrics. Shawn Mealey, the technical service and deployment scientist at Dow, says that the new eco-friendly production practices are now readily accepted and promoted by the global textile industry and they have come up with-water repellent treatments to replace the conventional disadvantageous ones.
Along with these technological advancements, designers are also being asked for finding durable and consumer-friendly fabrics so that those fabrics can be treated with their new DWR finishes and they’ll collectively align stronger towards sustainability.
After a couple of researches, it has been studied that fabric treated with Dowsil IE-8749 Emulsion treatment had better retention compared to the standard Silicon finishes. Moreover, it did not need to be heated regularly which is a significant advantage for its durability. Dow also emphasizes to not contain fluoroalkyls or fluorocarbons.
