The Disney family’s investment company via Shamrock Holdings Inc., acquires stake and joins board of RevoLaze, a laser technology company. RevoLaze adds a worn or patterned look to denim textiles without the environmental and social hazards of sand blasting.
RevoLaze uses digital software and ‘high speed, high power’ laser scribing technology to add a worn or patterned look to denim, and can be used on continuous fabrics. The process uses 2500 watts of power with laser scan speeds exceeding 50 metres per second. Speed helps improve production, reduces unit costs and improves profit.
There is a significant health risk associated with the sandblasting of denim to create the worn look. Likewise, the denim enzyme washing process produces environmental hazards. RevoLaze’s technology practically eliminates both of these maladies.
Disney’s decision to investment in RevoLaze was not just the manufacturing speed that attracted but they appreciate working with companies that have a special concern for the environment.
Disney is excited to see all the applications Linear Processing can bring to the textile industry. From replacing the enzyme process to replicating expensive loom processes, and providing patterned denim to the market place, RevoLaze technology is literally just scratching the surface.
They believe the benefits of RevoLaze technology is compelling, both financially and environmentally, and that companies will be eager to adopt this technology sooner rather than later.
Currently, the demand for laser abrasion and patterned denim continues to skyrocket.
