Decathlon Pulse, Unspun to scale 3D weaving technology

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-10-16 15:35:46 – France

Fashion-tech company Unspun has joined forces with Decathlon Pulse, the investment arm of global sports brand Decathlon, to introduce Unspun's 3D weaving technology, Vega, throughout Europe. This partnership involves both investment and a long-term agreement extending until 2030, with plans to scale the use of Vega technology across the region.

Decathlon Pulse will act as an industrial partner, helping Unspun expand 3D weaving for multiple European brands. The deployment of Vega machines aims to promote localized, low-waste, and low-inventory production. Vega technology transforms the manufacturing process by weaving semi-finished products directly from yarn, reducing waste.

Walden Lam, CEO and co-founder of Unspun, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating: “Decathlon has been a strong partner from the start. Together, we can offer apparel made sustainably to mainstream European consumers. Our Vega technology helps us work towards carbon neutrality, reducing supply chain waste and bringing fast, low-impact, and cost-effective production to Europe."

Franck Vigo, CEO of Decathlon Pulse, shared similar enthusiasm, saying, “Our partnership with Unspun will help Decathlon reduce waste in manufacturing and reinforce our sustainability efforts. With 3D weaving, we’re revolutionizing garment production to offer customized, recyclable, and locally-made products to consumers.”
