Pegas a Czech textile company manufacturing polypropylene/polyethylene nonwoven textiles for the hygiene, industrial, construction, agricultural, medical and other specialized sector has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire a new production line for its plant at Znojmo in the Czech Republic.
By signing this memorandum, they have reached an important milestone of the project that they have worked on intensively with Reicofil for the last two years with the objective of developing a new type of technology.
This new technology is based on the Reicofil 5 platform and the “no-basement" concept. It utilizes proven bicomponent technologies, offers a wide range of fibre types and fibre profiles, whilst enabling the use of input raw materials different to those that they currently process. A significant element of this technology is also the nonwoven textile bonding system, which is an alternative to the presently used conventional systems.
Frantisek Rezac, CEO and Member of the Board of PEGAS NONWOVENS SA said that due to its development potential, it is considered that this semi-commercial technology to be the fundamental building block for their newly built global innovation centre. They have great expectations into this innovation centre and believe that it will help them to achieve significant successes in research, testing and subsequent commercialisation of new products with applications for current as well as new markets.
Final contract for the delivery of the production line with the privately held Reifenhaeuser Reicofil is expected to be concluded by the end of 2017.
The company said that the annual production capacity of the line will depend on the used input raw materials and the produced products and will be in the range from 8,000-15,000 tonnes, part of which will be used for research and development.
The production line will be put into commercial operation during the third quarter of 2019.
Currently PEGAS runs two plants with a total of 8 production lines in the Czech Republic and one production line in Egypt. The total production capacity of the Company is currently up to 110 thousand tonnes of nonwoven fabric per annum.
The Company is active in developing new products demanded by the market and thereby maintains its position of technology leader in the European nonwovens market.
