Crocs partners with ThredUp to launch Clean Out program

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-11-08 12:38:30 – USA

American footwear company, Crocs™ and online resale program ThredUp, have announced a new Clean Out program enabled by thredUP's Resale-as-a-ServiceⓇ (RaaSⓇ) platform.

The concept, which aims to give preloved goods a second life, is part of Crocs' goal to become a net-zero company by 2030. Customers will be able to obtain a prepaid shipping label to donate garments, shoes, and accessories from any brand as part of Crocs' ambition to become a net-zero company by 2030.

While it's encouraged, it is not required that customers participate in the Clean Out program and donate their Crocs shoes. Crocs give the donating client a shopping credit after the items pass a thorough quality assessment before being listed online. The credit can then be used to buy anything at Crocs, both in-store and online.

Michelle Poole, Brand President at Crocs, said that Crocs shoes are extraordinarily resilient and well made for a second life, so they value encouraging customers to consider reuse. They're happy to work with ThredUp to lower their environmental footprint and move them one step closer to realizing their net-zero goal by taking action to build a more comfortable world.

Crocs' sustainability journey, which includes investments in sustainable materials, packaging, resource use, and product afterlife solutions, is advancing thanks to this relationship. Crocs already provide a large number of unsellable Crocs™ shoes to individuals in need each year, and both companies want to keep products out of landfills. Crocs' first-of-its-kind program directly supports the brand's strategic focus on product afterlife solutions, which is a major pillar of the company's path to attain net-zero by 2030.

The brand's sustainability journey aims to address the full value chain, including sustainable material investments. Crocs also provide unsold Crocs to people in need in order to keep their items out of landfills.

Crocs have joined the ThredUp resale service platform, which is used by a number of other companies. Adidas, Gap, and Madewell are among the other brands.

Pooja Sethi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of RaaSⓇ at thredUP, said that ThredUP is humbled to be a part of Crocs' sustainability journey. They're supporting reuse and moving closer to a more circular future for fashion by enabling Crocs customers to give preloved products a second life through thredUP's Resale-as-a-Service.
