Crescent Woolen Mills, a well-known name in the industry of converting wool, synthetic, and blended fibers into yarn has recently acquired Owen Glove Lining Co. The company is a manufacturer of knitted wool and synthetic cloth used in the production of firefighter gloves. All the necessary equipment and inventory of Owen Golve has already been transported to Crescent’s Two River Plant, which is sprawled on 85,000 square foot land.
According to the President of Crescent Wools, Guy J. Webster, the natural fire-retardant properties of wool will help them turn their wool yarn into a natural component that can be used for Owen Glove lining fabric. The custom-blend of wool, fire-resistant yarns, and other fibers will be used to create safety products. This is a great opportunity to uniquely meet the customer’s needs.
Crescent Woolen Mills is a sixth-generation family-owned business, which began the production and shipping of lining fabric in November 2013. The company has been operating in Two Rivers since 1923. Methew Webster was the person who kick-started this project. At the mere age of 12 he started working with a textile mill in Pudsey, England and then moved to Unites States in 1855.
