Cottonfab 2014 expo out with ethnic collection from 15 states

The exhibition Cottonfab 2014, going on at Kanakakkunnu Palace is organised by Awadh Hathkargha, Hasthshilp evam Gramodyog Samithi for promoting weavers and artisans from different parts if India. The objective of the Samiti is to give artisans and weavers a platform and market to not only display their talent but sale their work of art.

This time, it has come up with incredible array of fabrics in all colours and designs possible from gossamer silks to chic cottons which are in tune with the latest trend. Along with it are some ethnic print, you can make your pick from the huge selection of hand-crafted and hand-woven traditional textiles.

Punjabi kurtis with heavy handwork in silk and cotton are available in a variety on designs. Bright thread work on pastel-shaded silk gives them a classy look and it can be used for all occasions. Patiala bottoms, cute dupattas, Lucknow chikan kurtis are available in a slew of colours along with a range of kalmkari frocks and wrap-arounds at the exhibition.

The Kashmiri stalls have silks with their signature needle work and an array of salwar suites and kurtis with hand embroidery. Shawls and stoles are also on offer. At the exhibition, there are also ethnic print kurtis from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Rajasthani block printed material, Kota Doria dresses, ethnic lehnga-choli, Bandhej suits and Himachal cottons. All most all stalls have running material in both vibrant and pastel hues. There are a handful of stalls from various states where one can buy material for mix-and-match tops and salwars.

On saris, there are plenty of options made available at the exhibition from daily wear cottons to exquisite silks with detailed handwork, a large variety of six-yards are on offer. Chanderi, Maheswari, chiffon, crape, khadi, tusser and Banaras. All the traditional stuff including Bengal Shantiniketan saris, Dhakai Jamdani saris, Sambhalpuri Ikkat saris and Manglgiri silk saris are displayed at different stalls.

There are set of stalls selling home furnishing stuff like bed covers, quality daris, mats, runners and rugs.

Also on display are a range of precious and semi-precious stone studded ornaments. You will find jhumkis in black metal, Jaipur bangles and chunky neck pieces that will go absolutely well with your ethnic weaves and prints.

Cottonfab exhibition have come up with more than 150 stalls representing 15 states displaying their products. The expo will be on till June 30. It’s once again time to recognize and indulge in some ethnic shopping.
