The Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA), the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) and the US Cotton Council International (CCI) to jointly organize the Cotton Day 2017, the first of its kind event in Vietnam, connecting Vietnamese firms in the industry for sustainable partnership and development.
The event main aim is to connect Vietnamese apparel enterprises with partners and suppliers and gives Vietnamese companies the latest information on global supply and demand for cotton.
The Cotton Day 2017 will include a seminar and a fashion show. The seminar is set to discuss Vietnam-US relations, Vietnam’s garment-textile industry and impacts from the US trade policy, and purchase trends.
The Cotton Day is one of CCI’s biggest events in Asia. The event was initiated in Japan in the 1990s and has been held in the Republic of Korea, China, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
According to VITAS, the sector earned 19.8 billion USD from exports in the first eight months of 2017, up 9.9 percent year on year despite challenges facing Vietnam’s garment and textile sector, including pressure from anti-dumping tax on fibre in Turkey and India.
The Cotton Day 2017 will take place on September 12 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
