Cordura recor RN66
Invista’s Cordura® brand has announced the launch of CORDURA® re/cor™ RN66, urging the industry to ‘Expect More, Waste Less.’
Cordura® re/cor™ RN66 is made entirely of pre-consumer fibers and is GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified.
The new recycled nylon 6.6 collection, which is currently available in 36 on-trend colors for Autumn/Winter 2023, is described as durable, long-lasting in fabric constructions, and in terms of quantifiable benefits, its production reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 83%, consumes 82% less energy, and uses 57% less water when compared to virgin nylon 6.6.
Anthony Green, Cordura vice president, said that one of the key goals of Cordura re/cor was to maintain the performance of Cordura advanced textiles while also increasing their portfolio of responsible products. It’s something their customers and partners have been requesting, and they’ve been working hard to make it happen.
Cindy McNaull, Cordura’s business development director, said that many of their clients are already familiar with their GRS certified post-consumer recycled polyester and pre-consumer RN6 fabric technologies, which are both being folded into their Cordura re/cor line. They’re also tremendously proud of Cordura Truelock, their solution-dyed nylon fabric. Cordura TrueLock textiles are made from Invista nylon 6.6 multi-filament fibers with locked-in color at the molten polymer extrusion level, resulting in considerable stewardship benefits such as reduced water and energy use, as well as lower CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process.
McNaull added that Nylon 6,6 challenges the textile industry’s throw-away mentality, making it easier for customers to comprehend how a single chemical can help them get the most out of their gear and garments. This concept might be summarized as “Sustainability Begins With Products That Last™” at CORDURA®.
