CleanChain, a platform that strives to increase transparency in the chemical supply chain, has introduced a new function to assist brands and suppliers with wastewater discharge management.

CleanChain, which is owned by ADEC Innovations, a sustainable practices data management firm, has announced a new Wastewater feature that allows textile and apparel suppliers to upload, store, and share wastewater testing results with brands on the CleanChain platform.

A number of major brands have backed CleanChain's new wastewater module, which is part of the company's efforts to assist garment companies and suppliers in better controlling their wastewater discharge across various facilities and developing action plans to improve performance.

The platform is said to give brands the transparency they need to distinguish between suppliers who conduct testing and those who don't, as well as those who meet wastewater discharge standards while assisting those who don't.

The Wastewater module is also being used by CleanChain to automatically break down data from Safety Data Sheets and identify potential wastewater alarms.

Furthermore, the company notes that a supplier who has already reported Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Wastewater data and has an active Gateway Wastewater Reporting Fee will be able to link accounts and migrate the data over to CleanChain as the supplier will be able to link accounts and migrate the data over. 

The fashion and textiles business, according to CleanChain, continues to be a major polluter of water throughout the value chain. However, it believes that brands and suppliers can take quick action. The business says that supplying its wastewater module, chemical and compliance modules to customers on a single platform, will help to manage the risk associated with wastewater discharge, chemical usage, and regulatory compliance across numerous standards and regulatory requirements.

CleanChain further claims that its platform and new Wastewater module will assist organizations to improve transparency, measurement, and monitoring of important discharge criteria, allowing them to develop toward a more sustainable future.
