CIEL collaborates with Reverse Resources for textile waste innovation

CIEL Textile is making strides in sustainability as its Indian subsidiaries—Aquarelle, Tropic, and Laguna—partner with Reverse Resources (RR). This collaboration involves over 600 stakeholders in the textile value chain and aims to actively contribute to the circular economy by exchanging data and streamlining the textile waste supply chain.

CIEL Textile’s factories are now part of the RR platform, a digital ecosystem that connects stakeholders across the textile industry. This includes manufacturers, fashion brands, waste handlers, sorters, and recyclers. The platform facilitates a comprehensive mapping of textile waste flows, allowing stakeholders to track materials from initial use to transformation into new resources, enabling more informed decision-making.

Eric Dorchies, CEO of CIEL Textile, expresses how the partnership aligns with their sustainability strategy. The company aims to divert 90% of its waste to recycling by 2025 and achieve 100% by 2030. Initiating a waste classification process, this collaboration seamlessly integrates with their objective. Transparently tracking materials enables identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and reducing environmental impact.

Dorchies emphasizes the importance of traceability and transparency in ensuring the credibility and compliance of responsible textile manufacturing. By tracking materials transparently, the company can enhance efficiency throughout a product’s lifecycle, contributing to their commitment to responsible practices.

Nin Castle, Co-Founder, Lead of Recycling, and Chief Project Officer at Reverse Resources, commends CIEL Textile for recognizing textile waste as a valuable resource. He highlights the company’s forward-thinking approach in actively supporting the emerging textile-to-textile recycling industry and offering unique circular production processes to customers.
