Cibutex and Reju join forces for sustainable textile recycling

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-02-06 16:14:46 – Netherlands

Cibutex, a cooperative of businesses working towards a more sustainable textile industry, has partnered with Reju, an innovative company specializing in textile recycling. This collaboration aims to create a network among Cibutex member companies to support circular textile regeneration.

Through this partnership, Reju will receive secondary raw materials sourced from post-consumer textile waste collected by Cibutex. These materials will be used to produce Reju Polyester, a regenerated fiber created using Reju’s advanced textile recycling technology. This process promotes circularity in the industry.

Reju is focusing on polyester as the first step in developing a large-scale global system for recycling textile waste. Compared to new polyester, Reju Polyester will reduce carbon emissions by 50% and can be recycled indefinitely. As part of this collaboration, textiles collected from Cibutex member businesses will be processed in upcoming Reju Regeneration Hubs, including the flagship Reju Regeneration Hub Zero in Frankfurt, Germany, set to be fully operational by 2025.

Reju CEO Patrik Frisk emphasized that this partnership is a step forward in building a circular system for business textiles. He highlighted that Cibutex’s approach to engaging member businesses aligns well with Reju’s mission of large-scale textile regeneration. Together, they aim to tackle textile waste while reducing environmental impact and keeping valuable materials out of landfills and incinerators.
