Carrington Textiles, a leading global producer of workwear textiles, can now certify the quantity of plastic bottles recycled during the production of each meter of its Delamere 195 sustainable workwear polycotton, with the goal of increasing supply chain transparency and providing customers with environmentally friendly fabrics that are also high-quality.

The recycled polyester fibers in Delamere 195 white are produced using a total of 11.3 plastic bottles per square meter. These bottles are post-consumer garbage that Repreve has gathered from all around the world and processed into recycled polyester that can be used for a variety of fabrics and has the same quality, appearance, and performance as virgin polyester.

This regenerated polyester fiber reduces greenhouse gas emissions, saves water, and energy while helping to balance off the use of petroleum. Additionally, it keeps plastic bottles out of landfills and the ocean.

Sean Moore, quality assurance manager at Carrington, said that Repreve's polyester is created with recycled plastic bottles that are turned into a high-grade chip, which is melted into liquid polymer and extruded to create the fiber.

Any of Carrington's textiles made from recycled polyester from Repreve, like Delamere 195, 210, and 245, can be certified for bottle count.

The Delamere range of workwear fabrics is a component of Carrington's Balance Range of environmentally friendly goods and contains 35% Better Cotton and 65% Repreve recycled polyester in its construction. The materials provide a delicate drape and superior abrasion resistance.
