YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-07-29 08:46:19 – France

CARBIOS has teamed up with Nouvelles Fibres Textiles to provide polyester textiles to the first PET biorecycling plant, set to be built in France. Starting in 2026, the plant will recycle 5,000 tonnes of polyester textiles annually over an initial five-year period. This partnership represents a significant advance in recycling textiles and managing end-of-life materials more responsibly.

The site will serve as a research center for textile recycling, utilizing advanced technologies from partners such as Andritz Laroche, Pellenc ST, Synergie TLC, and the Tissages de Charlieu group.

Emmanuel Ladent, CEO of CARBIOS, highlighted the company’s role as a biotech innovator and a key player in the textile industry. He emphasized the importance of large-scale polyester recycling initiatives to enhance collection and preparation infrastructures. This partnership reflects the growth and innovation of the French industry by integrating various value chain components from collection to recycling.

Eric Boël and Etienne Wiroth, Co-directors of Nouvelles Fibres Textiles, emphasized the critical role of the circular economy in addressing the environmental, economic, and social impacts of textile over-consumption. Their partnership aims to establish a circular value chain, making the textile sector a model of sustainability that benefits both people and the planet.
