German fashion company, C&A has announced the launch of its new Global Sustainability Strategy for key markets in Europe, Brazil, Mexico, and China for the year 2028. Meanwhile, looking back on past years, C&A claims that it has met the majority of its 2020 targets, as stated in its latest Global Sustainability Report.
C&A’s track record of meeting its goals has allowed the business to set bolder, more precise, and even more ambitious goals for 2028. The new approach includes measures to motivate consumers to make more sustainable decisions, as well as aggressive science-based climate change objectives and a stronger focus on circularity.
As one of the industry leaders that has had a head start in recent years by adopting more sustainable materials, C&A has established new major targets for its operations in Europe. The targets include sourcing 100% of key materials more sustainably by 2028; innovating and connecting circularity concepts to prolong the life of 7 out of 10 products by 2028; and replacing 50% of single-use plastics in stores, online shops, and supply chains with sustainable alternatives.
C&A has made considerable progress in transforming sustainability from a specialist problem to a mainstream one during the last five years by making it easier for customers to make sustainable fashion choices. The company’s resolve to continue on its current course and become even more sustainable is reaffirmed in the new strategy.

According to the most recent Global Sustainability Report, C&A is one of the world’s leading purchasers of certified organic cotton.
Some of the report’s other highlights include increasing the percentage of sustainable cotton used, from 53% in 2016 to 96% in 2020, virtually achieving the company’s 100% objective; C&A utilized 68% more sustainable raw materials in 2020, surpassing its goal by 1%.
In 2020, C&A will release the first-ever Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Platinum denim fabric, demonstrating its continuing leadership in circularity. With over four million Cradle to Cradle Certified™ items on the market, it is leading the fashion industry toward circular fashion.
C&A’s vital objective of finding and sourcing more sustainable raw materials, seeking new solutions, and increasing garment durability to create fully circular fashion continues as the business ticks off its prior targets.
