Burberry unveils scarf made with brewed protein fiber

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-10-02 16:06:01 – United Kingdom

British heritage fashion brand Burberry has introduced a new scarf made from Brewed Protein fibre, a groundbreaking material developed by Japanese biotech company Spiber.

Burberry announced that it is the first luxury brand to launch products using Brewed Protein, a lab-grown fiber created through the fermentation of plant-based renewable materials. The brand plans to use this sustainable fiber in a range of soft accessories, starting with the new scarf.

The scarf, featuring Burberry’s B shield motif inspired by the Equestrian Knight Design, is woven in Italy and incorporates twisted fringe detailing.

This blended scarf reflects Burberry’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, containing 62 percent wool, 8 percent cashmere, and 30 percent Brewed Protein, resulting in an ultra-soft, luxurious finish.
