Brooklyn Bedding, a manufacturer, retailer, and online mattress pioneer, announced that its brand-new, 648,165-square-foot facility has gained Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification, the world's highest organic textile standard.

The third-party accreditation acknowledges Brooklyn Bedding's gold standard, assuring that every component of an organic mattress is built using GOTS-certified materials, ethical labor standards, and is backed by independent certification of the full textile supply chain.

John Merwin, Chief Executive Officer of Brooklyn Bedding, said that they’re honored to earn the coveted GOTS certification and to embark on their adventure of producing organic mattresses in their brand-new, world-class plant. Achieving this certification has been a long-term objective for them, and they are thrilled to finally provide organic, US-based manufacturing techniques and, as a result, eco-friendly and sustainable products to their clients.

Brooklyn Bedding received GOTS accreditation after passing a series of rigorous tests and inspections, including an assessment of its processing and storage system, a chemical input inspection, and social criterion checks. The accreditation also assures that all GOTS-certified items are subjected to a comprehensive quality assurance inspection before they are packed and delivered to the client.

Lori Wyman, GOTS Representative for North America, said that they’re delighted that Brooklyn Bedding has received GOTS accreditation. They are now included in their website's GOTS Certified suppliers database for organic textiles by typing 'Mattress' or 'Brooklyn Bedding' in the free text field and choosing the United States.

GOTS was created in 2006 as a global standard to assure organic status and socially responsible textile manufacture along the whole supply chain, including fiber production, processing, and manufacturing. The certification establishes the standard for global awareness of environmentally friendly production practices and social accountability in the organic textile industry.
