YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-06-05 18:18:07 – United Kingdom

LVMH announced the recipients of its prized award, which was presented by Australian actress Cate Blanchett. For his fledgling men’s and women’s wear brand S.S. Daley, British designer Steven Stokey Daley took home the top prixe.

Jonathan Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Kim Jones, Stella McCartney, Nigo et Silvia Venturini Fendi were among the artistic directors on the jury, which included Jonathan Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Kim Jones, Stella McCartney, Nigo et Silvia Venturini Fendi. Delphine Arnault, Jean-Paul Claverie, and Sidney Toledano, Chairman and CEO of LVMH's Fashion Group, were also on the jury. Daley will receive a financial reward of 300,000 euros as well as a one-year mentoring from LVMH's talent management team.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize was also given to Eli Russell Linnetz, 31, an American designer based in Venice Beach who founded the womenswear, menswear, and genderless brand ERL, and Idris Balogun, 29, an American designer based in New York who founded the menswear brand Winnie New York. Each will earn 150,000 euros and will enjoy a one-year mentorship by the LVMH Group.

Delphine Arnault, Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton, said that she is extremely thrilled that Steven Stokey Daley has received the LVMH 2022 Prize for his brand S.S. Daley. By toying with upper-class English culture's clichés, he appropriates tailoring codes. The jury has decided to award the Karl Lagerfeld Prize to Eli Russell Linnetz for his brand ERL, which draws inspiration from the culture of Venice Beach and his native California to create joyful, cool, and sensual clothing, and to Idris Balogun for Winnie New York, which reinvents the codes of a colourful elegance inspired by menswear staples.

LVMH demonstrated its commitment to nurturing talent at a young age by offering a $10,000 prize to three young fashion school graduates who would join one of its ready-to-wear studios, including Dior women's, and Louis Vuitton women's, and Dior men's.

In collaboration with luxury fabric re-sale site Nona Source, sustainable activities were also rewarded. The winners will get further mentoring as well as a monetary award of 20,000 and 10,000 euros, respectively, to help them integrate sustainability into their design processes.

The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers will be held for the tenth time in 2023.
