Bossa introduces sustainable denim collection using SaXcell fiber

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-06-25 11:48:59 – Turkey

Bossa, a Turkish denim mill, is launching a denim collection called Endless Blue for Fall/Winter 2025-2026. It is made with SaXcell fiber, derived from chemically recycled cotton waste. This collection features fabrics crafted from regenerated virgin cellulose fiber.

The production process begins by sorting domestic cotton textile waste, removing non-textile components like zippers and buttons, and grinding the waste into a dry mixture of fibers. This mixture is then chemically decolored and processed through wet spinning. The fiber can be cut to specific lengths, spun into yarns, and woven or knitted into fabrics. Coloring can occur at the fiber, yarn, or fabric stages.

The Endless Blue collection includes two fabrics: the comfort stretch Organic Cypress Savetrue with 34 percent SaXcell lyocell and the power stretch FX Metacell Freshblue with 18 percent SaXcell lyocell.

Jordan Nodarse, Bossa Denim designer, noted that SaXcell performs well in washing and laundry processes, comparable to other lyocell fibers on the market. This is significant as SaXcell is made from recycled input, unlike recycled cotton, which can differ in performance from its virgin counterpart.

Bossa actively incorporates new fibers into their denim fabrics, including hemp and colored cotton. With SaXcell blended denim, Muge Tunceren, Bossa’s product development manager, stated that the mill can “create denim fabrics that meet high standards of quality and performance while prioritizing environmental conservation.”
