Bodice uses Bemberg fiber for sustainable collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-03-25 15:44:02 – India

Bodice has partnered with Asahi Kasei to incorporate 100% regenerative Bemberg fiber in its latest collection and designs. By using biodegradable materials, the brand aims to merge environmental responsibility with its signature structured tailoring.

A key element in the collection is Bemberg, a fabric known for its eco-friendly and fluid drape. “What drew me to Bemberg was its honesty, it is biodegradable, absorbs dyes beautifully, and has a subtle sheen that complements our aesthetic,” shared Ruchika Sachdeva, founder of Bodice. She also visited the production units in Japan to gain a deeper understanding of the process.

“This collection is very personal to me,” said Sachdeva, in an interview with Elle India. “I have been reflecting on my journey—not just as a designer but as an individual navigating change, growth, and the evolving sense of identity. Sustainability is about looking at materials in a complete way—not just their environmental impact but also their texture, longevity, and the emotions they evoke.”

The collection blends fluid drapery with structured tailoring, symbolizing the changing nature of identity. Techniques like block printing and pleating are used to explore themes of transformation and contrast in a subtle yet wearable manner. Sachdeva remains committed to sustainable practices and plans to continue prioritizing responsible production in future collections.
