Bluesign extends services to reduce textile value chain impact

Bluesign is rolling out new tiered service offerings aimed at strengthening its capabilities as a full-service sustainability solutions system for the textile value chain and growing into the workwear, corporate wear, home textile, and footwear markets while improving its capabilities as a full-service sustainability solutions system for the textile value chain.

As the textile industry grapples with changing regulations, increased consumer and stakeholder pressure to meet sustainability goals, and a lack of verifiable data, bluesign® has updated its service offerings to assist brands, manufacturers, and chemical companies in better understanding and managing their value chains. Bluesign’s key competencies of lowering impact across the supply chain, delivering trustworthy, third-party verified data, reducing the use of hazardous chemicals through input stream management, and replacing compounds with bluesign® APPROVED chemistry are all being expanded (a positive list of chemical products with less impact on people and planet). As the textile industry’s most trusted partner, CEO Daniel Rufenacht’s aim is to democratize access to Bluesign’s sustainability solutions by making them affordable to the whole industry. Bluesign’s high-value services are available to any company that wants to decrease the effect of its value chain while maintaining quality.

For over 20 years, bluesign® has provided a best-in-class package of services under System Partnership as an organization with a team of specialists in chemical management, process know-how, worker health and safety, sustainability, and environmental sciences. Bluesign acknowledges that increasing environmental responsibility demands tools and validation procedures to limit the impact on people and the environment.

Bluesign is expanding its System Partnership offerings and providing DATA SERVICES and IMPACT SERVICES for brands and manufacturers with this in mind. These tiers of service offer increased capabilities that allow companies to actively monitor and manage their supply chain using Bluesign validated impact data, which includes essential variables such as water use, energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, chemical consumption, and waste. DATA SERVICES enable brands and manufacturers to have access to data from their unique supply chain and provide a picture of their influence. Companies receive this data, as well as a basic evaluation of their overall performance and a complete study of their suppliers, as part of the IMPACT SERVICE package.

The new IMPACT SERVICE allows manufacturers to showcase their achievements in impact reduction and resource management excellence. The new tiered packages will enable businesses to gradually incorporate Bluesign’s services, with the ultimate objective of achieving full SYSTEM PARTNERSHIP, which will include company-specific action plans. A yearly impact report or dashboard is supplied at all service levels; access to this data enables reliable analysis for decision-making and reporting both internally and externally.

CEO, Daniel Rufenacht said that over Bluesign’s 20-year existence, the firm has given unmatched leadership in reducing dangerous chemicals and providing innovative roadmaps for its System Partners to constantly enhance its operations. The deadline for achieving carbon neutrality and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is rapidly approaching. Bluesign’s new vision and approach will also help to speed efforts toward impact reduction. Their focus over the previous year has been on growing their knowledge in order to expedite their transition to more responsible production while maintaining quality and performance. They also encourage businesses outside of the textile and apparel industries to gradually improve their practices by obtaining personalized corporate clothes from bluesign System Partners.
