BKS Textiles launches full traceability solution for organic cotton products

Swiss DNA traceability solution, Haelixa, has announced a collaboration with the vertically integrated manufacturer, BKS Textiles Pvt. Ltd., to physically mark, trace, and authenticate products from the manufacturer to the retailer. BKS has introduced Organitrack, an authentication tool for its 100% organic cotton bedding.

This cotton has been tagged with Haelixa’s DNA markers, which give each product a unique fingerprint, hence establishing proof of origin and ensuring transparency throughout the entire supply chain. These adaptable, non-intrusive, sturdy, and nontoxic markers are GOTS certified and are compatible with Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex. Third-party testing validates the integrity of Organitrack-branded products and authenticates their history, providing retailers and brands with the assurance that they can stand behind the product claims made.

Dr Sudha Anand, director marketing of BKS Textiles, said that with the multiple benefits it provides to the environment and the agricultural community, organic cotton has become a critical driver of sustainability in the textile sector. Simultaneously, examples of bogus claims, such as passing off conventional cotton as organic, have been on the rise recently. This makes traceability critical, and they are extremely glad to partner with Haelixa in providing a fool-proof organic cotton solution to their consumers.

Dr Michela Puddu, CEO and co-founder of Haelixa, said that it is always a huge honor for them when customers select their DNA identifier as a prominent component of a new collection. Knowing how important sustainability is, particularly for the millennial age, being able to provide forensic proof for the authenticity of the fiber helps to comfort the end-consumer.
