BFC, UKFT, and UKRI partner to launch Circular Fashion Innovation Network

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-09-07 16:57:42 – United Kingdom

The British Fashion Council (BFC), the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT), and UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) have come together to create a special partnership called the Circular Fashion Innovation Network (CFIN).

The goal of CFIN, which is part of the BFC's Institute of Positive Fashion, is to bring people from the fashion industry, investors, academics, and others together to work on making fashion more sustainable in the UK. They plan to do this by coming up with practical steps and ideas to move towards a circular fashion economy.

The network will be led by Caroline Rush, the head of BFC, and Adam Mansell, the head of UKFT. They have received £1.8 million to run this network, create a community, share knowledge, and do industry research.

Their plan is to make big changes in the UK fashion and textile industry over the next two years. They want to focus on circularity and innovation, which means making fashion in a way that is better for the environment.

This initiative will also be part of a bigger £15 million project by UKRI to make fashion more sustainable.

Caroline Rush, the head of BFC, said that they hope this network will lead to major changes in the fashion industry and help make it more environmentally friendly. It's a collaboration between different parts of the industry to address the challenges fashion poses to the planet and the future of the UK fashion industry.
