Chinese sportswear group Anta has announced that it has become a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). It said this decision was part of efforts to execute its “sustainable development philosophy”.
BCI is a Geneva-based organisation that works to promote greater sustainability in cotton production around the world. It is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019.
Making this announcement, Ding Shizhong, chairman and CEO of Anta Sports, said: “We feel honoured to see Anta Sports joining BCI and becoming the first sportswear company in China to join the organisation. Being a leading sportswear company in China, Anta fully understands the importance of sustainable development.”
He went on to say that joining BCI indicates the company’s “dedication to blending sustainable development” with its general business operations.
