A new standard for "consolidated and uniform" sustainability reporting, called Delta Framework, has been introduced by the nonprofit Better Cotton along with a number of other partners.
The framework, which was created over the course of three years through cross-sector collaboration, offers a set of common environmental, social, and economic metrics to gauge sustainability throughout the cotton and coffee commodity sectors.
On the new framework, Better Cotton collaborated with the Global Coffee Platform (GCP), the International Coffee Association (ICO), and the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).
The ISEAL Innovation Fund provided funding for the undertaking.
Better Cotton CEO, Alan McClay, said that Better Cotton is happy to have launched and coordinated this cross-sector partnership, which brings together experience from across the agricultural sector. The Delta Framework is facilitating the effective reporting of sustainability progress by the corporate sector, governments, and farmers. This has improved the standard of support and services offered to farmers, including better government policies and financing.
The framework is also supplemented with instructions, including illustrations of best practices and procedures.
