Better Cotton, a sustainability initiative focusing on cotton, has joined forces with the Professional Association of Cotton Companies of Côte d'Ivoire (APROCOT-CI) for a new program in Côte d'Ivoire. This initiative aims to assist 200,000 local cotton farmers over the next five years.

APROCOT-CI was chosen as Better Cotton's strategic partner in Côte d’Ivoire after expressing interest in launching a Better Cotton program last year. The program focuses on sustainable farming practices, offering training and resources to farming communities to promote environmentally friendly and socially responsible cotton production.

Organizations like APROCOT-CI will act as Better Cotton Programme Partners, providing expertise and resources to drive social and environmental improvements within cotton communities. Jean François Toure, president of APROCOT-CI, highlighted the joint commitment to positively impact farming practices, aiming to enhance cotton yields, reduce environmental impact, and improve social and economic outcomes for farmers in the region.

With a membership network spanning from the farm to the retailer and brand level, Better Cotton asserts its strategic position to meet the increasing demand for sustainable cotton. Alan McClay, CEO at Better Cotton, emphasized the fundamental role of the partnership with APROCOT-CI in delivering environmental and economic benefits to domestic cotton farmers through more sustainable production practices.
