Berghaus
The Pentland-owned British outdoor brand Berghaus, is the first brand owned by Pentland Brands to get B Corp accreditation, which honors it for ethical business practices.
The British company promised to use the certification as a “catalyst to strive for even higher social and environmental standards,” according to a release.
Berghaus underwent the demanding certification assessment procedure, which looked at governance, workers, the community, customers, and the environment. It stated that since its founding in 1966, it had given durable and repairable equipment top priority and continued to provide its free repairs service, Repairhaus.
The success, according to Pentland Brands, which also owns brands like Speedo and Kickers, was in line with its 100-1-0 strategy, which aims to take positive action for both people and the environment. Pentland Brands said this puts it in a good position for other of its brands to follow suit.
Charlie Pym, Berghaus’ brand director, said that the company had put a lot of effort into demonstrating that it deserved of the designation. This process also identifies areas they need to improve, which is crucial for their continuing success. They want to make the outdoors more accessible because that is where people live their greatest lives. Everything they’re doing right now is in service of inspiring more people to spend more time in nature. B Corp certification is not the beginning of their journey, and it’s far from the end, but it’s another significant step forward in striving to make the world a better place with Berghaus in it.
