As part of the Bangladesh government’s strategy to expand jute and jute products’ market in US and Mexico, a six member Bangladeshi delegation led by Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Emaj Uddin Pramanik is currently visiting the US.
Bangladesh Consulate General in New York said that the member delegation from Bangladesh would also visit Mexico to explore the market.
The Consulate General organized an interactive meeting at the Chancery attended by leading Bangladeshi-American businessmen along with community leaders based in New York.
Former MP Monirul Islam, President of US Awami League Dr. Siddiqur Rahman, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Textiles and Jute Matiur Rahman and Commercial Counsellor at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington Sk. Aktar Hossain and Officers from the Ministry and Consulate General were present, among others.
The minister briefed the business leaders about the policy priority of the present government to expand the market of jute products.
He said Bangladeshi jute products were of international standard. Aggressive marketing strategy for jute products could help make a niche in the US market if the local buyers could be effectively sensitized about its potential role in reducing emissions.
Various jute-made products were also distributed among the business leaders.
