At CHINAPLAS 2025, BASF will highlight its leadership in polyurethane (PU) innovation with groundbreaking advancements in recycling technology. A key focus will be the company’s innovative PU recycling solution, introduced under the name ‘Loop’, a range of PU products made with recycled content, ready for use in the footwear, automotive, and synthetic leather industries.

The process begins with BASF’s recyclable PU Systems, where PU waste is carefully sorted and shredded at a specialized facility. Using a patented recycling technology that employs advanced liquification techniques, discarded polyurethane products are transformed into high-quality recycled materials that meet industry standards and offer strong commercial potential. These recycled raw materials are then used to create new PU products, making ‘Loop’ a reality for polyurethane sustainability.
