The most recent company to be accepted into the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Community is Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited (Beximco).

Beximco has become a contributor to the ZDHC Community. The company supports optimal sustainability practices from the procurement of raw materials through the delivery of the finished product.

Beximco, one of the top vertically integrated textile manufacturing sectors in South Asia, claims that in order to assure ongoing progress, it has created its own sustainability plan and has participated in the Roadmap to Zero Programme of the ZDHC Foundation from the beginning of its journey.

The Roadmap to Zero Programme has assisted Beximco in its efforts to develop reliable chemical management practices (ZDHC Gateway, Chemical Module), sustainable chemical management practices for raw material selection (chemical), and wastewater management (ZDHC Gateway, Wastewater Module). Beximco claims that by adhering to the ZDHC CMS, MRSL, and Wastewater Guidelines, it has been given the authority to establish a standard for even loftier sustainability goals.

Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan, chief sustainability officer at Beximco Limited, said that Beximco will be able to engage in a wider conversation on chemical use and waste disposal in the global textile sector by becoming a ZDHC Contributor, ensuring sustainable and circular textiles. Beximco would like to get involved with supply chain partners for effective collaboration and partnership for the development of the global environment.

One of the largest washing plants in South Asia, continuous and positional printing units, knit, woven, and denim dyeing are all part of Beximco's operations. The company also works with major global fashion brands like Inditex, Target, Walmart, C&A, Bestseller, Primark, M&S, PVH, Michael Kors, Li & Fung, American Eagle, and Disney.

This month, the ZDHC Foundation changed its wastewater regulations, and Version 2.1 now reflects those changes.
