Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated that the government has decided to introduce plot system for industrial lands doing away with the system of selling plots on the basis of tender. She was addressing the media during her visit to the Industries Ministry on 24 August.

The PM stated: "Previously, the large industrial lands were being sold at very low price because of tender. People were submitting tenders for the sake of submitting it."

She further added, "But now we have decided to sell lands on the basis of plot system. The plots will be sold to the investors as per the industrial zone already existing in the area".

Hasina believes that more textile centres will be established in the area which has a good number of textile factories.

She also opined that consumers like eco-friendly products like jute and plans should be drawn to attract more investments in this sector.
