Arkema, a leader in specialty materials, has unveiled its new ENCOR range of bio-based waterborne dispersions for textile printing and finishing. These innovative binders contain up to 30% bio-based materials and offer a carbon footprint reduction of up to 40% compared to traditional textile resins, helping the textile industry adopt more sustainable practices.
"The textile industry is responsible for 6 to 8% of global emissions, and with demand on the rise, it’s critical to reduce the sector's carbon footprint," said Helene Pernot, Global Sustainability Marketing Director at Coating Solutions. "Bio-based solutions pave the way for the next generation of sustainable textiles, helping our customers meet their carbon reduction and sustainability goals."
Arkema’s approach considers the entire lifecycle of its products. This includes creating safer formulations that are free from formaldehyde and APEOs, compliant with Oeko-Tex® Eco Passport standards, and even suitable for food contact applications, explained Patricia Beurdeley, Global Market Manager for Nonwovens & Textiles at Coating Solutions. “We are also committed to improving end-of-life management, focusing on biodegradability, durability, color retention, and wash resistance in future products,” she added.
